The 10 Most Dangerous Intersections in Scottsdale, According to Two Years of ADOT Data
Published October 4, 2026
Scottsdale's table in the Metro Phoenix Dangerous Intersections Study — the two-year ADOT-data analysis published by our sister outlet AZ Crash Data — looks different from the rest of the Valley's in one notable way. Here are the city's ten highest-crash intersections for 2023-2024, exactly as the study ranks them.
Scottsdale
| Rank | Intersection | Crashes | People injured | Deaths | |---|---|---|---|---| | 1 | Hayden Rd & Northsight Blvd | 54 | 6 | 0 | | 2 | Hayden Rd & Thomas Rd | 48 | 33 | 0 | | 3 | Frank Lloyd Wright Blvd & Pima Rd | 47 | 24 | 0 | | 4 | Hayden Rd & McDowell Rd | 45 | 23 | 0 | | 5 | Frank Lloyd Wright Blvd & Hayden Rd | 45 | 20 | 0 | | 6 | 90th St & Shea Blvd | 44 | 16 | 0 | | 7 | Cactus Rd & Scottsdale Rd | 41 | 21 | 0 | | 8 | Pinnacle Peak Rd & Scottsdale Rd | 39 | 22 | 0 | | 9 | Indian School Rd & Scottsdale Rd | 35 | 28 | 0 | | 10 | 92nd St & Shea Blvd | 35 | 9 | 0 |
What stands out in the Scottsdale data
- Zero deaths across the entire top ten — Scottsdale is the only city we've profiled from the study so far where the highest-crash list produced no fatalities over the two years.
- Hayden Road appears four times (Northsight, Thomas, McDowell, and Frank Lloyd Wright), including the city's #1 crossing, and Scottsdale Road adds three more — seven of ten entries sit on just two north-south corridors.
- The #1 intersection is a low-severity outlier. Hayden & Northsight logged the most crashes (54) but only 6 injuries — a profile that often reflects lower-speed congestion crashes. Compare Hayden & Thomas: fewer crashes (48) but 33 people injured.
Reading this as a driver
The data suggests Scottsdale's concentrated crash risk lives on the Hayden and Scottsdale Road spines. The habits that match it cost nothing: generous gaps on unprotected lefts, a beat after the green, and extra patience through the airpark-area congestion where the counts run highest.
