The 10 Most Dangerous Intersections in Peoria, According to Two Years of ADOT Data

Published October 4, 2026

Peoria's highest-crash intersections cluster on two north-south avenues. In the Metro Phoenix Dangerous Intersections Study — the two-year ADOT-data analysis published by our sister outlet AZ Crash Data — 83rd and 91st Avenues account for seven of the city's ten entries. Here they are for 2023-2024, exactly as the study ranks them.

Peoria

| Rank | Intersection | Crashes | People injured | Deaths | |---|---|---|---|---| | 1 | 91st Ave & Olive Ave | 73 | 38 | 0 | | 2 | 83rd Ave & Thunderbird Rd | 70 | 39 | 0 | | 3 | 99th Ave & Northern Ave | 69 | 49 | 0 | | 4 | Deer Valley Rd & Lake Pleasant Pkwy | 55 | 40 | 0 | | 5 | 91st Ave & Northern Ave | 51 | 31 | 1 | | 6 | 91st Ave & Cactus Rd | 45 | 23 | 0 | | 7 | 83rd Ave & Union Hills Dr | 40 | 18 | 0 | | 8 | 83rd Ave & Olive Ave | 35 | 21 | 0 | | 9 | 83rd Ave & Deer Valley Rd | 35 | 13 | 0 | | 10 | 75th Ave & Grand Ave | 32 | 21 | 0 |

What stands out in the Peoria data

  • Two avenues carry the list: 83rd Ave appears four times (Thunderbird, Union Hills, Olive, Deer Valley) and 91st Ave three times (Olive, Northern, Cactus) — seven of ten entries on two parallel corridors through the city's core.
  • 99th Ave & Northern Rd produced the most injuries (49) despite ranking third by crashes, and Deer Valley & Lake Pleasant Pkwy — the gateway to the city's fast-growing north — injured 40 on just 55 crashes. Injury-heavy profiles like these often track with higher speeds.
  • The only death in the table came at 91st Ave & Northern Ave.
  • Olive Avenue connects the pattern regionally: the same corridor that anchors neighboring Glendale's list (three of its top ten) appears twice more here.

Reading this as a driver

For Peoria drivers the data reads as a two-corridor note: the 83rd and 91st Avenue spines carry most of the concentrated risk, and the injury numbers argue for measured speeds on the wide northern arterials. Generous gaps on unprotected lefts and a beat after the green remain the cheapest habits the data supports.
